Coach Nicole Pasqualino
We do lots of things to keep team members interested and enjoying the process. Within our year long season there are mini seasons. In the summer we have time to work on individual skills while working on synchronizing and perfecting our team skills. We identify team members who exhibit different types of leadership to their peers and we also do nightly wrap ups in their team facebook groups summarizing our accomplishments, challenges, and goals from the night and moving forward. We have “Hot Tumblers” each week. These are not necessarily they most skilled tumblers but anyone who catches a coaches eye during their team tumbling by listening, making corrections, getting a new skill, or another character trait that was witnessed as making a positive contribution. We also do lots of contests in the gym during the year. These are contests are meant to be a blend of positive reinforcement and accountability. We theme them to match the time of year so you can earn pumpkins in your patch, cookies on a tray, snowflakes, etc… Each contest is a little different so as to give each team equal opportunity to win and the winning team usually gets a party after a practice where they earn pizza, a chocolate fountain, ice cream sundaes etc…
Our gym is unique because it focuses on character development, leadership, and life long lessons while offering a competitive cheerleading program. Many gyms say they do this and to extent they may as a natural consequence of working with children. However, at HotCheer these values are systematically implemented through Powerful Words Character Development Curriculum, our leadership program, and regular service opportunities that engage all members of our families not just team participants. We strive to offer a top of the line facility and equipment and treat our clients with respect and gratitude. As owners Jenn Smith and Kelly Makay invest regularly in upgrading the experience for both the athletes and parents by consistent staff training, bringing in or consulting with various industry professionals regarding best practices in all star coaching, creating positions within our business such as safety director, we use the latest technology in billing and payment collection, offer cable, wifi, and free coffee to our parents in the waiting area, and particularly unique is our care coach system. Each family is assigned a “care coach” who serves as their customer care representative. They acknowledge birthdays and special achievements. They also check in with those families regularly to make sure all is well and for suggestions on how to improve our services.
